Hey Hazel, thanks for your comment and the share on Twitter I’m glad you liked the article!

Holy shitsnacks 54 jobs and just 4 interviews those are some pretty bad odds. But at least they can’t say you aren’t putting yourself out there! 😅

“Live and learn” that’s really all any of us can do but I’m still sorry to hear you’ve had to go through those bad experiences — especially people thinking their time is more precious than yours are exactly the type of arrogant asshats you’ll want to steer clear of as much as possible. You’ve probably dodged a couple of really nasty bullets in not getting any of those jobs!

This Exodus thing sounds way more promising — offering you compensation is an appreciation of your time and effort, good sign. And if they pay you they could also just give you a real assignment which would be an all around win-win for them as well. Fingers crossed for you!

I have to ask, do you have a portfolio of some sort and some work in it? Because if not I’d suggest to maybe do a few smaller assignments for non-profit organisations or just a personal project so you’ll have something to show if/when you’re asked to do an assignment again. It’s also easier to turn the tests down when/if you know you’ve already got some great work!

Best of luck,
Signe
